Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan is the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of HDFC Bank. He assumed office on October 27, 2020
Sashi as he's known to his friends and colleagues, joined HDFC Bank in 1996 and has played a critical role in its growth ever since. Having started his tenure at the Bank as a manager in the Finance department he became Business Head - Finance in 1999 and in 2008, the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank. He led the finance function for 12 years and played a pivotal role in aligning the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives over the years.
He was adjudged as the Best CFO in the banking sector at the CNBC TV18 CFO Awards 2013-14. At the 3rd The Financial Express CFO Awards 2019, he was adjudged as the Best CFO by a special jury. In October 2020, he made his debut in the 10th edition of India Today’s prestigious High and Mighty List. He was awarded the Banker of The Year by Business Standard in 2022.

In 2019, he was appointed "Strategic Change Agent of the Bank' and given additional responsibilities of Legal & Secretarial, Human Resource, Corporate Communication, Infrastructure & Administration as well as CSR.
Mr. Jagdishan experience spans over 30 years, 27 of which he's spent at HDFC Bank. Prior to HDFC Bank, he worked with Deutsche Bank AG, Mumbai, for a period of three years.
Mr. Jagdishan is a Science Graduate (Physics) from Mumbai University, and a qualified Chartered Accountant. He also holds a Master's degree in Economics of Money Banking & Finance from the University of Sheffield, UK.
A Mumbaikar - born and brought up in the quiet bylanes of Matunga, Mr. Jagdishan resides in the city with his wife and their son.
In his free time, Mr. Jagdishan enjoys cooking and loves experimenting while in the kitchen although 'thayir shadam' or the staple curd rice remains a favourite. Every weekend is his turn to cook for family and friends. He also enjoys listening to music, particularly Carnatic music and reading when he finds time. Cycling is his sport of choice when it comes to his fitness regime.
