A Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account facilitates basic banking services for all. By opening a BSBD Account, you can access banking facilities such as free cash deposits, free RuPay Debit Card, access to NetBanking, Mobile Banking and PhoneBanking, cheque facility, etc. You can send money to different bank accounts via NetBanking and PhoneBanking. You can also access Safe Deposit Lockers and Super Saver facilities (Overdraft Against FD)​​​​​​​.

As per RBI guidelines, regular Savings Account holders can convert their account into a no-frills BSBD Account. Note that if you hold a BSBD Account, you cannot hold any other Savings Account or Current Account with the bank. Additionally, you cannot have a BSBD Account with any other bank.

BSBD Account holders can get access to all the customer support options offered by the bank to their regular Savings Accountholders. For instance, with HDFC Bank’s BSBD Account, accountholders can access PhoneBanking services to get their queries addressed.

Yes, you can. You can open a Fixed Deposit or Recurring Deposit in the bank where you hold a BSBD Account.

No, you cannot. As a BSBD Accountholder, you are not eligible to open another Savings Account or Current Account with the bank. If you have another account, you are required to close it within 30 days from the opening of the BSBD Account.
