Mr. Sundaresan M

Mr. Sundaresan M is Group Head - Retail Credit Strategy and Control vertical at HDFC Bank. In this role, he oversees the Credit Strategy, Risk Analytics & Innovation for the entire Retail Lending & Payments Business, manages the Credit Bureau Relationships and handles underwriting for the SME verticals of Commercial Vehicles, Infrastructure, Healthcare & Automobile Dealer Finance.

Mr. Sundaresan joined the bank in 2002 as part of the core team for launching Credit Cards, and has been an integral part of the growth & impeccable portfolio quality of the Retail Assets & Payments biz for the Bank. Over this long tenure, he has handled leadership roles in Retail Risk Management covering Policy, Underwriting, Process Strategy & debt management for retail products.

Mr. Sundaresan has overall experience of 28 years in the retail financial services industry. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked with the retail biz of GE Capital in India for 7 years, and his last position was Branch Operations Manager for GE Countrywide in Bangalore.

Mr. Sundaresan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from PSG Tech, Coimbatore, and has completed his management education from IIM-Lucknow. He is an alumni of Harvard Business school, having completed the Senior executive leadership program.

He is an avid outdoors person, and regular participant in Mumbai Marathon. He has done multiple high-altitude treks including summitting Mt Kilimanjaro.
