Mr. Sumant Rampal

Mr. Sumant Rampal is the Group Head for Mortgage Business at HDFC Bank wef. 28th March 2024. He heads the Bank’s Home Loan portfolio, Loan Against Property (LAP) and HDFC Sales.

Prior to this, Mr. Rampal was the Group Head for Business Banking Working Capital (BBG), Rural Banking Group (RBG) and Sustainable Livelihood Initiative (SLI) at the Bank.

BBG vertical caters to the banking needs of Small and Medium Enterprises; RBG vertical caters to farmers and the entire Agri ecosystem and SLI caters to the banking needs of Self-Help Groups, Joint Liability Groups and Microfinance Institutions.

Under Mr. Rampal’s leadership, HDFC Bank was acknowledged as the Best SME Bank by SIDBI for Financial Year (FY) 2019-2020; by Asiamoney for FY 2021-22; Euromoney for FY 2021-22 and Asiamoney for FY 2022-23.

HDFC Bank today is one of the largest banks for MSME and agricultural finance. It is also one of the largest providers of funding under government schemes like ECLGS, CGTMSE, AIF, PMFME, CGFMU, FPO etc.

Mr. Rampal has been a Corporate and Wholesale banker throughout his two-decade career with the Bank. He joined HDFC Bank in 1999 as a Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking division and managed some of the leading Indian and MNC corporates before moving to the Mid-Market Group as Regional Head – West. He contributed significantly towards building the Mid-Market Business vertical and was also involved in its digitisation process.

He is an alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune.
