Mr. Jigar Shah

Mr. Jigar Shah is the Group Head – Corporate Legal and Group General Counsel at HDFC Bank.

Mr. Shah is a UKqualified Solicitor with over 30 years of global legal experience with extensive expertise in the legal domain in Banking, Financial Services and alternative funds / assets including Private Equity, Private Credit and Special Situations across India, the UK and pan-Asia.

Mr. Shah has held senior leadership roles including Managing Director and Head of Legal and Compliance at KKR India and Managing Director and Head of India Legal at JP Morgan. He also served in key legal roles at Deutsche Bank in Mumbai, Hong Kong, and London. He began his legal career in the United Kingdom, working with leading international law firms in the City of London prior to moving in-house. 

Mr. Shah is widely recognized in the industry and has been featured in Chambers’ GC Influencers List and Legal 500’s GC Powerlist.

Mr. Shah holds an LLB (Hons.) degree from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, completed his Law Society Finals from The College of Law, Guildford, and is admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.

Outside of work, Mr. Shah enjoys playing tennis and is an enthusiastic skier.
