The blog explains how you can check your PAN card number through different ways.
Jan 09,2026
Check Physical PAN Card: Find your PAN number directly on the front of your physical PAN card.
Online Verification: Retrieve your PAN number through the Income Tax India e-Filing website by registering and accessing your profile.
Mobile App and Helplines: Use the PAN card mobile app or call toll-free helplines for assistance in finding your PAN number.
The Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is a crucial identification document for Indian citizens, particularly when it comes to financial transactions and tax-related matters. Whenever you obtain any financial facility, be it opening a bank account, applying for loans or making investments, you need to provide your PAN number. As such, knowing how to check your PAN card number is vital. This article explains the different ways in which you can easily and effectively find your PAN number. Read on.
To experience the ease of online payments, download PayZapp now! All you need is your mobile number to register and PAN to complete KYC.
Here are the different ways in which you can find out or find your PAN number.
Method 1: Check the PAN card physically
If you already have your physical PAN card with you, you can easily check the number. You simply need to look for the 10-character alphanumeric code (for example, ABCDE1234F) printed on the front side of the card. The code is typically placed next to your other personal details like your name, date of birth, photograph and signature.
Method 2: Check your PAN number online through the income tax website
To get your PAN card details via the Income Tax website, you can follow the steps outlined below:
Visit the official income tax website.
If you have already registered, click on the ‘Registered User’ option. For new users, select ‘Register Yourself’.
Choose the user type that applies to you and tap on the ‘Continue’ button.
Complete the registration form with your information and tap ‘Submit’.
You will receive a one-time password for the mobile number and email address that you entered. Type in the OTP and finish the registration procedure.
Log in to your account on the e-Filing website using your newly activated credentials.
Navigate to the ‘Profile Settings’ section and select ‘My Account’.
Under ‘PAN details’, you will find the following information displayed:
- PAN number
- Name
- Gender
- Birth date
- Status
- Address
Additionally, you can access address and contact details by selecting the relevant tabs.
Here are the steps to find your PAN on your mobile device:
Download the PAN card mobile app onto your smartphone.
Launch the app and search for the 'Know your PAN details' option near the bottom of the page.
Enter the required information, including your 10-digit mobile number.
You will receive a one-time password (OTP) on the mobile number provided while applying for the PAN card. Enter the OTP in the appropriate field and tap 'Submit.'
You should now be able to view the details of your PAN card, including the PAN card number.
To obtain information regarding your PAN card number, you have the option to call a toll-free customer care helpline. This convenient service comes at no expense and you can access it at any hour to find your PAN number. To avail of this service, you need to dial these numbers:
NSDL toll-free contact number: 1800 222 990
Income tax department’s toll-free contact number: 18001801961
Note that the above-mentioned numbers are subject to change over time. You must thus visit the authorised websites before dialling the numbers.
You can also retrieve your PAN card details via email by simply writing to the official email address of UTIITSL (gsd@utiitsl.com) or the authorised email address of NSDL (tininfo@nsdl.co.in).
Please note: NSDL is now Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited.
There is currently no recognised way of obtaining your PAN number only on the basis of your full name and birth date. Nonetheless, you can verify your PAN card details by cross-checking your PAN, date of birth, and name.
Other Ways to Check your PAN Number:
If you have a bank account, you can check your PAN card number on the statement from your bank.
Using your previous ITR: If you have previously submitted an income tax return (ITR), you can locate your PAN card number on your filed returns.
Manage Money Easily – Download PayZapp Today.
