All You Need To Know About Loan Statements

A loan statement is an official document provided by your lender that gives a detailed summary of your loan account. It includes key information such as the loan amount, outstanding balance, interest charged, EMI details, repayment history, and any applicable charges or fees.

This statement helps you track how much you have repaid and how much is still pending, offering complete visibility into your loan lifecycle. It can typically be accessed online through banking platforms or services like InstaServices, or requested from your lender.

Here are some of the benefits of reactivating your dormant account:

  • 1. Tracks your repayment progress
A loan statement provides a clear record of all EMIs paid and the remaining balance, helping you stay on top of your repayment schedule.

  • 2. Helps in financial planning
By knowing your outstanding amount and future liabilities, you can better plan your finances and manage your monthly budget.

  • 3. Useful for tax purposes
Loan statements, especially for Home Loan, can be used to claim tax deductions on principal and interest payments as per applicable tax laws.

  • 4. Ensures transparency
It gives a detailed breakdown of interest charged, principal repayment, and any additional fees, ensuring there are no discrepancies.

  • 5. Required for loan closure or refinancing
A loan statement is often needed when you want to prepay, foreclose, or transfer your loan to another lender.

  • 6. Acts as proof of loan history
It serves as an official record of your borrowing and repayment behaviour, which can be useful for future financial applications.
