Dormant Account Reactivation – Benefits and Tips

A Bank Account becomes dormant when no customer-initiated transactions—such as deposits, withdrawals, or online transfers—occur for a specific time. This often happens when customers shift to new accounts, relocate, or forget to maintain older ones. Banks classify such accounts as dormant to safeguard against unauthorised access or misuse. Regularly using your account for small transactions, updating details, or linking it to bill payments can help keep it active and avoid temporary restrictions.

Here are some of the benefits of reactivating your dormant account:

  • Access to All Services: Once reactivated, you can freely use facilities like fund transfers, deposits, and withdrawals.

  • Maintain Financial Continuity: Keep your savings and financial records active without disruptions.

  • Receive Timely Updates: Stay informed with transaction alerts, statements, and account-related notifications.

  • Avoid Reopening Formalities: Save time by reactivating your existing account instead of opening a new one.

Keep your Bank Account active and secure by following these simple steps:

  • Use Your Account Regularly: Carry out transactions like deposits, withdrawals, or fund transfers periodically. p>

  • Set Up Standing Instructions: Automate bill payments or recurring transfers to ensure regular account activity.

  • Enable Digital Banking: Activate Mobile Banking and NetBanking for convenient access and easy account management.

  • Stay Updated: Review your account statements and ensure your contact details are up to date for timely alerts and notifications.
