UIDAI provides an option to residents to lock and unlock their Biometric using UIDAI website and mAadhaar mobile application. Customers can use this facility to lock their Biometric to secure their Aadhaar and Aadhaar linked Bank account. This will prevent misuse of Aadhaar.​

SMS Services: UIDAI also provides the option to lock or unlock biometrics via SMS by sending an SMS with the prescribed format to 1947.
