SMS booking for Recurring Deposits allows HDFC Bank customers to instantly book an RD by sending a text message to 5676712 with specific formats for the desired amount and tenure.
Recurring deposit booked using SMS banking will by default get booked with maturity instruction as maturity proceeds to be credit to CASA account
Customers holding HDFC bank CASA a/c and registered on SMS Banking can book RD via SMS from their registered mobile no.
You can initiate RD by sending a text message to 5676712

- Recurring Deposits can be booked by customers registered on SMS banking only.
- Recurring Deposits will be booked from an account registered in SMS banking.
- Recurring Deposits will get booked on the account home branch registered for SMS banking, and the holding pattern will be the same as the CASA account.
- There will be no nominee registered in RD booked by SMS Banking. However, it can be updated from the branch.
- By default, Recurring Deposits booked using SMS banking will be booked with maturity instructions, as maturity proceeds will be credited to the CASA account.
- Recurring deposit Amount: Minimum ₹1000 (in multiples of 100 thereafter) and Maximum ₹10,000
- Tenure: Minimum 6 months (in multiples of 3 months thereafter) and Maximum 120 months
- Transaction Limit: Maximum 5 successful transactions per day for RD

- Recurring deposit cannot be liquidated partially and can only be fully withdrawn before maturity. However below premature liquidation clause will be applicable.
- Premature Liquidation: Effective 01st Dec'06, the interest rate applicable for premature closure of deposits (all amounts) will be lower of: The original rate at which the deposit has been booked OR The base rate applicable for the tenure for which the deposit has been in force with the Bank. The base rate is the rate applicable to deposits of less than Rs.2 Cr as on the date of booking the deposit.
The Minimum tenor for earning the interest on NRE Recurring Deposit is 1 year. No Interest will be paid if the NRE Recurring Deposit is prematurely withdrawn before 1 year.
Recurring deposit will get booked on account home branch registered for SMS Banking.
Booking a recurring deposit via SMS with HDFC is safe, provided you follow security guidelines and ensure SMS banking is registered to your account.
