HDFC Bank introduces its 'Bank on Wheels' van in West Bengal

An initiative of the bank's Rural Banking Business, the 'Bank on Wheels' van will offer 21 banking products and services in remote villages, located 10-25 kilometres from the nearest branch

The 'Bank on Wheels' van will visit select villages every week in and around the temple town of Bishnupur in the Bankura district

Kolkata, December 27, 2022: HDFC Bank has introduced its state-of-the-art 'Bank on Wheels' van in West Bengal to offer banking services in unbanked and under banked villages.

An initiative of the bank's Rural Banking Business, the 'Bank on Wheels' van will visit select villages every week located within a radius of 10-25 kilometres from the temple town of Bishnupur in Bankura district. The van will visit each village twice a week and will offer 21 banking products and services.

West Bengal becomes the third state after Maharashtra and Gujarat where HDFC Bank has launched its 'Bank on Wheels' initiative.

At the launch event in Bishnupur, the van was flagged off by Mr. Anil Bhavnani, Senior Executive Vice President and Head – Rural Banking, RBB, HDFC Bank.

Commenting on the introduction of the 'Bank of Wheels' van in West Bengal, Mr. Anil Bhavnani, Senior Executive Vice President and Head – Rural Banking, RBB, HDFC Bank, said: "We are pleased to take banking to people's doorsteps with the launch of 'Bank on Wheels' van. There is enormous opportunity to serve people living in semi-urban and rural areas, and this initiative will improve access to banking under banked geographies in Bankura district of West Bengal."

"The 'Bank on Wheels' van will be manned by our bank staff and will offer a number banking services, including Cash Deposit Machine and ATM services, and an exclusive range of products designed specifically for rural banking customers. Going forward, we plan to launch this initiative in several other states."
