Account Details shows the information regarding a specific account. You can view this by following this path:
Log in to HDFC Bank NetBanking > Click on ‘Accounts’ in upper menu > Select the account > You can view the balance, nominee, holder, etc.
How do I change my HDFC Bank home branch?
We offer two ways of transferring your account from one HDFC Bank branch to another.
a. Go to www.hdfc.bank.in and in the menu, select Need Help > Accounts/Deposit Services > Account Transfer

What is ‘Primary Account’? Where can I see it?
A primary account is your go-to selection for transactions. If you have multiple accounts, you can set the one you use most often as the 'primary account'. This makes it the default account for transactions, saving you the hassle of selecting it every time.
If you've selected a primary account, it will show up as the 1st account on the Account Summary page. You will see a green 'Primary' tag near that account.

It is shown only if available.
How can I get my monthly Account Statement on email?
To receive monthly account statements delivered straight to your email ID, simply follow this path:

How can I stop getting monthly account statements on email?
To stop receiving monthly account statements to your email ID, simply follow this path:
Log in to HDFC Bank NetBanking > Go to ‘Accounts’ (on the top of the screen) > Quick Links - ‘Manage e-Statement’ > Click on ‘Disable e-Statements’ (if currently active).
Why am I getting an error when I click on ‘Manage e-Statements’?
There could be two reasons why this is happening, as follows:
a. Perhaps your account(s) are not eligible for e-Statements facility. OR,
b. Your email ID is not registered with us. (You can register or update it online by clicking on the link- update Email ID online or by visiting your nearest HDFC Bank branch).
Can I open or close a safe deposit locker online?
No, locker can only be opened by visiting the HDFC Bank branch having Lockers. Please check the branches having lockers near you by visiting nearest HDFC Bank branch.

Yes, if you are the sole owner of a locker. Here’s the quick way to get there:

How can I raise a dispute or report a fraud?
If you suspect fraudulent activity in your account or with your cards, we urge you to raise a dispute & report fraud as soon as possible. Here’s how you can raise a dispute from HDFC Bank NetBanking:
Click on ‘Get Statement’ (on either the Savings A/c or Current A/c card on the home screen) > Select the specific account > Scroll down to find ‘Raise Dispute & Report Fraud’.

What is the password of account statement that gets downloaded from HDFC Bank NetBanking and why is this implemented?
Your HDFC Bank Account Statement is password protected to ensure the confidentiality and security of your financial information and prevent unauthorized access.
The password is your Customer ID (CustID). This is mentioned in the note section on the Account Statement download page only when you select the format as PDF and also in the download account statement success message.

What are the time lines for processing foreign currency outward remittance under this facility?
Requests submitted before 2.00 PM - Processed same day

What is the Exchange Rate applied for processing remittance request submitted through RemitNow?
The applicable exchange rate will be the TT Selling Rate as last published on the Bank’s website at the time of debit to the customer’s account.
What are the commission / fees / charges and taxes applied for processing remittance request submitted through RemitNow?
Following charges and taxes will be levied by HDFC Bank for this transaction-
1. Commission @ Rs, 500 +GST per transaction for remittances up to USD 500 or equivalent
2. Commission @ Rs, 1,000 +GST per transaction for remittances above USD 500 or equivalent
3. GST on amount of foreign currency exchanged (details provided under Fees & Charges section)
4. Tax Collected at Source (TCS) shall be applicable on all forex drawls under LRS as per Government notification.

What are Correspondent Bank Charges? Who will bear the same?
Foreign outward remittances are processed through Correspondent Banks with whom we have tie-ups. These foreign / intermediary / correspondent banks may apply a charge for processing outward remittances. These are called the Correspondent Bank charges.
Correspondent Bank charges may be applied to remitter or the beneficiary basis the option selected by the remitter under “Correspondent bank charges to be borne by” field as below:
1. Self – Correspondent Bank charges will be borne by the remitter and will be applied post successful processing of the transaction.
2. Beneficiary – Correspondent Bank charges will be borne by the beneficiary and will be debited from the remittance amount sent.
3. Full Value – No correspondent bank charges will be charged for remittances in USD currency if this option is chosen.
Can FULL VALUE payment option be chosen for all remittances?
Full Value payment option is available only for remittances in USD, GBP and EUR currency to any location for all personal purposes available under RemitNow.
What are the documents required to be sent for Capital Account transaction, if the account vintage is less than 1 year old?
If the account vintage is less than 1 year with us, then last 12 months bank account statement of an existing account held by you with any other bank (or) copies of the latest Income Tax Assessment Order (or) Return filed by you with Income Tax authorities, is required to be sent by email to RemitNow@hdfc.bank.in within 24 hours of transaction submission,for further processing this transaction.
On receipt of the above stated document, we shall review and process the transaction by end of next working day.
If the documents are not received within 24 hours (or) the documents are insufficient or not in order, the transaction may get cancelled.
Under what circumstances the outward remittance request submitted may get rejected?
• Account not having sufficient funds
• In case the annual LRS limit of USD 250,000 has been utilized
• If beneficiary country is not part of “Permitted Country List”
• If the beneficiary is not part of the “Permitted Beneficiary List’
• If the customer is an expat customer

Who can do Foreign Outward Remittance?
This facility is available for HDFC Bank customers who are resident individuals. This facility is not available for Non-Residents, Corporate, Partnership firms, HUF, Trusts, etc.
How to do International Remittance?
International Remittance happens only via SWIFT payment method. This is how you go about it: Log in to HDFC Bank NetBanking > Go to ‘Send Money’ > Search payee with name/ account no. > Select Remittance/repatriation payee > Select purpose of transfer > Declare latest 3 Remittances done in the current financial year to the payee, if any.

Yes. The IBAN is Mandatory for remittance of any currency in the UK and other European Countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Israel, Qatar, Jordan, Georgia, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Kuwait and Lebanon).
Is the 9-digit Canadian Clearing Code mandatory for CAD remittance to Canada?

What is the process for transfer of shares?
In order to transfer securities from your Demat Account to another Demat Account, you need to submit a Delivery Instruction Slip (DIS) signed by all the Demat Account holders. Please note that all the relevant columns in the delivery instruction slip needs to be appropriately completed and blank columns to be strike off. Kindly note, that the execution date may preferably be a minimum of 24 clear working hours later than the date of submission of the instruction. In case of off-market transfer, the customer has to submit the reason (for transfer of shares) along with consideration amount (if any) to the DP servicing branch.
Also note, that transfer of shares cannot be done based on the e-mail intimation, for security, authentication purposes.
Can someone else operate my Demat account on my behalf on the basis of Power of Attorney?
Yes. If you authorise any person to operate your account by executing a power of attorney (POA), that person can operate the account on your behalf. However, you need to submit a Notarised copy of the POA to your DP. Ensure that the POA has the signatures of both, the Donor and the Donee. The POA holder is also subject to KYC norms of the bank. However, if the POA is submitted at the time of account opening, it is mandatory that the holder signs the account opening document.
Can the existing corporate Demat account be continued in case of a name change?
No, a new Demat account must be opened. Shares must be transferred to the new account and the old account closed.

Can DRFs be rejected? What are the reasons for rejection?
Yes, DRFs can be rejected by your DP or the Company / RTA. The reasons for rejection may be signature mismatch, incorrect holders name, certificate details mismatch between certificate and DRF, call paid receipt not attached, wrong formats used, old / defunct certificates surrendered for demat, etc. The rejected DRFs can be collected from the submitting branch or can be sent to the Investor’s address as registered for the Demat Account. Demat Account holders are informed about Demat Request Credits / Rejections through their Periodic Demat Account Statements.
Can I buy and sell shares through Depository services of HDFC Bank?
No, shares can be bought and sold only through a stock broker. A DP helps in delivering the shares against a sell transaction or receiving the shares for a buy or purchase transaction.
Can I pledge dematerialised securities?
Yes. In fact, pledging dematerialised securities is easier and more advantageous as compared to pledging physical securities.
Can there be a mix up of securities of different companies held in one Demat Account?
Each security, even of the same issuer, are given a separate ISIN so they can be identified and maintained and accounted for separately, within an account. Therefore, there is no question of any mix up by the DP.
How will I receive dividend/interest, if any, on the securities I am holding?
Depositories give the issuer/ R & T agent of the security for which dividend has been announced, a list of beneficial owners as of the record/book closure date. Based on this list provided by the Depositories, the issuer/ R & T agent will forward to you a dividend warrant or directly credit your bank account (specified by you in the Demat Account Opening Form), depending on the mode of disbursement chosen by the company.
What if I have lost/misplaced my slip/instruction booklet?
You have to immediately intimate the bank by submitting a letter / Stop Instruction Format (available with the branch) mentioning the details of the slip/booklet lost, duly signed by all the holders and request for a fresh booklet. A "Stop Instruction" will be marked against all the unused slips to avoid misuse of the slips.
Where I can view my transactions/holdings online?
Depository Account holders who have registered for the ‘DP-on-the-net’ facility can view their current holdings along with the market value. Transactions can be viewed only for the last one year. What is TPT registration? Why is it required?
TPT (Third-Party Transfer) registration is a one-time step that enables you to securely transfer funds from your account to others (HDFC or other banks) within India or Outside India through online channels like HDFC Bank NetBanking and HDFC Bank App. It is for the safety of your account.
However, you do not need to register for TPT to transfer within your own accounts (self-transfers).
How can I do TPT registration?
Once you set this up, you’ll be able to send money easily using different transfer methods. Follow the path that applies to you to register for Third-Party Transfers. Login to HDFC Bank NetBanking and Go to ‘Send Money’ > Click on 'Register Now'.
For Resident Indians (within 70 yrs): Click on ‘Register Now’ (if visible) > Authenticate using your Debit Card details and SMS OTP > Set the ‘Daily Transfer Limit’ > Submit.
For Resident Indians (Senior Citizen, >70 yrs): Click on ‘Register Now’ (if visible) > Download the Application Form> Submit TPT Registration application with nearest HDFC branch. Who can open an Investment Services account?
Any Individual or HUF, who has an HDFC Bank Savings Account and is KYC compliant, can register for a Mutual Fund Investment Services Account. NRI customers who are KYC compliant and have a Savings account can also avail of this service. The Savings Bank account status has to be single or either/Survivor.
Who can be the first applicant in the Investment services Account holding? Can any of the holders transact?
The first applicant of the Mutual Fund Investment Services Account has to be same as the first Holder of the Savings Bank Account. Only the first account holder can transact through this service.

What is FATCA/CRS/KYC?
"FATCA : In January 2013, the United States of America’s (U.S) treasury released the final FATCA Regulations. FATCA requires U.S based financial institutions (FI) as well as foreign financial institutions to identify their U.S accounts and report them periodically to the U.S IRS (Internal Revenue Service) or appropriate governmental authority, in case of Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA). Non-compliance can result in adverse consequences, including a penal U.S withholding tax, for non-U.S. entities or penalties under the local inter-governmental.
CRS : To combat problem of offshore tax evasion, the G20 and OECD (Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development) countries developed a Common Reporting Standard (CRS).CRS requires financial institutions to collect and report information to their tax authorities about account holders resident in other countries. India has signed CRS agreement on 3rd June 2015.
UBO : As per SEBI Master Circular No. CIR/ISD/AML/3/2010 dated December 31, 2010 regarding Client Due Diligence policy, related circulars on anti-money laundering and SEBI circular No. IR/MIRSD/2/2013 dated January 24, 2013, non individuals and trusts are required to provide details of controlling persons [CP] / ultimate beneficiary owner [UBO] and submit appropriate proof of identity of such CPs/ UBOs. The beneficial owner has been defined in the circular as the natural person or persons, who ultimately own, control or influence a client and/or persons on whose behalf a transaction is being conducted, and includes a person who exercises ultimate effective control over a legal person or arrangement.
As per regulatory requirement, individual investors and joint holders are required to provide extended KYC details. In absence of the same, transactions may get rejected by AMC/RTA. Joint holders of ISA ( Mutual Fund) accounts may update the same through ""Update Extended KYC"" option in NetBanking Request section of Accounts tab.
Non-individual customers & HUFs may submit extended KYC details to Branches /Relationship manager. In absence of the same, transactions may get rejected by AMC/RTA"
How will I receive the redemption amount on my Mutual Funds?
You can receive redemption amounts through a Direct Credit in your Savings Bank Account mentioned in Investment Services Account opening.
What is the two factor authentication implemented for Mutual Funds?
As per SEBI regulation, all Mutual Fund transactions including NFO, purchase, redemption, switch as well as on setting up of Systematic Investment Plan(SIP), Systematic Transfer Plan (STP) and Systematic withdrawal Plan (SWP) need to be authenticated by the customer via OTP. This is called as Two Factor Authentication (2FA).
Can I sell/redeem schemes bought offline through online?
No, only those schemes bought through the online mode (ISA mode) can be sold /redeemed through HDFC Bank NetBanking or the HDFC Bank App.
What do you mean by 'Switching Funds"?
Switching between funds implies that the unit holder can transfer his investments from one fund to another fund under the plan. For instance, one may want to switch from an equity based fund to a debt fund when the equity markets are on a downslide.
Can I make mutual fund transactions anytime during the day?
Yes, you can transact at any time of the day. However, in order to get the NAV of the same day you have to transact before the cut-off time of the scheme. If you place an order after the said cut-off time, you will be eligible for the NAV of the next day.
Can I make mutual fund transactions on a holiday?
Yes, you can place your request even on a holiday. However, the request will be processed on the next business day and the respective NAV will be applicable as per the Mutual Fund's offer document
What are the advantages of investing in SIP?
A large part of the success of Mutual Funds is also the advantages they offer in terms of diversification, professional management and liquidity.
• Power of Compounding: The longer the period of your investment, the more wealth you can accumulate because of the power of compounding. That’s why it makes sense to start investing early. Quite simply, the incremental returns that you earn on your principal, plus accrued gains, is compounded.
• Rupee Cost Averaging: Most investors want to buy stocks when the prices are low and sell them when the prices are high. But timing the market is time consuming and risky. A more successful investment strategy is to adopt a method called Rupee Cost Averaging. By investing in an SIP you end up buying more units when the price is low and less when the price is high.

Is there a minimum transaction amount for each scheme?
As decided by the fund, there is a minimum transaction amount indicated against each scheme. You will get to see the minimum transaction amount in the Purchase screen after you select the Name of the scheme from the drop down menu.
Can I cancel a transaction?
No, you cannot cancel a transaction once it has been placed.
What is the procedure to close my Investment Service account?
You will need to submit the Investment Service account closure form to your nearest branch for further processing.
As an NRI, can I buy Mutual Fund Units in the Portfolio Investment Schemes (PIS) account?
No, you cannot purchase Mutual Fund units in the PIS account. You can only do so in the Non-PIS account.
Are there any special requirements for an NRI to invest in Mutual Funds?
Yes. In addition to the certified true copy of the passport, a certified true copy of the overseas address and permanent address will also be required. If any of the documents (including attestations/certifications) towards proof of identity or address is in a foreign language, they have to be translated into English for submission. The documents can be attested by the Consulate office or overseas branches of scheduled Commercial Banks registered in India.
What about a Minor becoming a Major?
When a minor attaining majority ( completes 18 years of age), he/she must be KYC Compliant and have a KYC Acknowledgement of their own. The same should be informed to the Mutual Fund where he/she holds an investment, along with other details such as the bank details, signature, etc. as per the present requirements of such Mutual Fund.

To instantly reset your HDFC Bank NetBanking password online, open the NetBanking Login Page: Click on Reset password. Enter Cust ID and security code. Feed in your registered Mobile Number.
