Cards
The blog explains four easy methods to replace a debit card: through NetBanking, Mobile Banking, Customer Care, or by visiting a bank branch, and highlights the steps and potential fees involved in the replacement process.
Is your debit card damaged from wear and tear, or isn’t working properly? Even if neither of these issues apply, cards can sometimes become problematic as they age. Whatever the reason for your card’s issues, don’t stress—replacing your debit card is easy. You can apply for a replacement using the following four simple methods.
1. NetBanking
This is the simplest and fastest method to apply for a reissued/ replaced Debit Card. Log in to your NetBanking account using your customer ID and password. Once logged in, you can go to the 'Cards' section. Choose the Debit Card that has to be replaced. Then, you can place a replacement request and choose the address to which your Card should be sent. The bank accepts the request, and a new card is issued within a few days to your registered address. Click here to log in to your HDFC Bank NetBanking account and get started.
2. Mobile
Another convenient method of applying for a replacement Debit Card is via your bank's Mobile Banking App. Use your customer ID and password or your four-digit Quick Access PIN and password to log in to your account. Go to the Cards menu and choose the service request option. Choose the Debit Card that you wish to get a replacement for. Place a service request for the same. Your bank will process the request and issue a replacement Debit Card. The bank will dispatch it to your registered address.
3. Customer Care
The other way to apply for a replacement Debit Card is by contacting the bank's Customer Care. Reach out to a Customer Service Executive and place a request for the replacement of your Debit Card. The Service Executive will take your request, and once the request is approved, the bank will dispatch a new Debit Card to your registered postal address.
4. Visit a branch
If you are uncomfortable with NetBanking or Mobile Banking, don't fret. You can simply visit your bank's nearest branch to request a new Debit Card. Meet the Relationship Manager at the branch and place a request for a new Debit Card. You can also ask for an instant Debit Card at the branch. You will be issued a Debit Card immediately. The Card will be attached to your account but will not carry your name on it. Alternatively, you can request a new Debit Card to be dispatched to your registered postal address in a few days. The bank may charge a small replacement fee for issuing a replacement Debit Card. The cost is directly debited from your account when the Card is issued.
