FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - HDFC Bank RuPay Platinum Debit Cards Revised Lounge Program

Key Changes:

Effective 1 April 2026: The existing lounge access program will be discontinued.

Effective 20 April 2026: Airport lounge access will move to a spend-based eligibility model, where access will be provided through vouchers instead of direct card swipes at partner lounges.

Eligible customers will receive 2 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits per year (1 visit every six months).

To qualify, customers must spend ₹20,000 on their HDFC Bank RuPay Platinum Debit Card within the 6 months period.

Example:

Spend ₹20,000 between April and September 2026 → Eligible for 1 lounge access voucher.

Spend ₹20,000 between October 2026 and March 2027 → Eligible for the second lounge access voucher.

Process to access the Lounge Card Swipe based at the Lounge Terminals Voucher Based Access
Process to Claim the voucher:
- Upon meeting the spends criteria Cardholders will receive the link to claim the lounge voucher
- Click on the link & log in using registered mobile number
- Click on "Claim Now"
- Show the voucher received through email/sms to get the lounge access

Note: Between 1st to 20th April 26 , in case customer wants to use the lounge- the access would need to be paid for by the customer.

  • Customers will get 1 complimentary lounge access every six months only if they have spent Rs. 20,000 or more on their HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card. 
  • Example: If customer spend a minimum of Rs 20,000 within a six month i.e. (Apr’26-Sep’26 & Oct’26-Mar’27), customer will get the SMS/Email on registered mobile number/Email Id within 7 working days with a link to claim lounge access voucher.

Under the current process, RuPay Platinum Debit Card holders are eligible for 1 Domestic & 1 International Lounge access per calendar year. To access the lounge the customer, need to swipe the card at the lounge after successful authentication the customer is allowed to access the lounge.

Effective 20th April 2026, the new Spends Linked Lounge Voucher based lounge program will be introduced.

  • Under this program, customers who have met the Half yearly spends criteria of Rs. 20,000
  • Customer receives an SMS/Email on their registered mobile number/Email Id within 7 working days, containing a link to claim their lounge access voucher.
  • Once the customer has claimed the Lounge voucher, The voucher will be valid for 6 months.
  • Example: Customer spends Rs 20,000 between April-September’2026. He receives SMS/Email within 7 working days, containing a link to claim their lounge access voucher. Once he claims the voucher it will be valid till 31st Dec’2026 at the empanelled lounges.

Follow these steps to use your debit card lounge voucher:

Eligibility Notification:

Eligible customers will receive an SMS or email with a link to claim the lounge voucher within 7 days after meeting the half-yearly spend requirement.

Login:

Click the link and log in using your registered mobile number. Complete the login by verifying the OTP.

Note: If your mobile number has been updated after the eligibility communication was sent, you will still need to log in using the mobile number that received the eligibility message.

Claim Voucher:

After OTP verification, you can view and claim your lounge access voucher on the claim page.

Voucher Delivery:

Once the claim is successful, you will receive the voucher details via SMS and email, including the voucher code or QR code.

Redeem at Lounge:

Present the voucher code or QR code received through email/SMS at any empanelled lounge to avail the lounge access benefit.

Your lounge voucher will remain valid until the end of the quarter following the six-month eligibility period.

Examples for the period Apr’26 – Sep’26:

  • If vouchers received on 20th April 2026 then voucher’s validity will be till 31st December 2026.
  • If vouchers received on 20th July 2026 then voucher’s validity will be till 31st December 2026.
  • If vouchers received on 30th September 2026 then voucher’s validity will be till 31st December 2026.

ATM cash withdrawals will not be counted as a spend. Only purchases made in-store or online using your HDFC Bank Debit Card will be considered as a valid spend.

Customer can spend Rs 20,000 or more in a single transaction OR make multiple transactions aggregating to Rs 20,000 or more, in store or online. Both the scenarios will be eligible.

For newly onboarded customers also the spends criteria of Rs. 20,000 is mandatory to be eligible for the lounge benefits.

No, the form factor for making the payments has to be debit card i.e., only POS/PG(Ecom)/SI are the 3 types of transactions which are used for calculating spends by the customer in a cumulative quarter. The account-based or wallet-based transactions such as Gpay, Phonepe, Paytm etc. are not debit card payments.

The wallet reloads, credit card bills and DC EMI are paid by accounts will not be considered for eligibility check of meeting the half yearly criteria of Rs 20,000 or more.

  • The access to the lounge will be available on a first come first serve basis.
  • Participating Lounges may reserve the right to enforce a maximum stay policy (usually 2 or 3 hours). This is at the discretion of the individual lounge operator who may impose a charge for extended stays
  • Each lounge follows its food offerings and child policy, please check with the lounge before entry
  • The provision of free alcoholic drinks (wherever local law permits) is at the discretion of each Participating Lounge operator and in some cases may be limited. Eligible customer should make prior inquiries before ordering any separate alcoholic drinks apart from general free flow offered and will be responsible for paying any charges for additional consumption direct to the participating lounge
  • Lounge staff has the right to terminate the lounge visit early or to refuse entry to any Customer who is intoxicated or behaving in a disorderly fashion or is otherwise in violation of the lounge conditions and for any statutory, regulatory, or airport/railways policy reasons including but not limited to health and safety policies or fire safety regulations.
