You can change your name either online through InstaServices using Aadhaar eKYC and Video KYC, or offline by submitting a filled Bank Account name change application with documents at your nearest branch.
Aadhaar is the primary ID for online verification. If your Aadhaar reflects the new name, you can use it for Aadhaar-based eKYC. If not, you must visit the branch with supporting documents.
If Aadhaar and PAN are updated, you can complete the Bank Account name change online through InstaServices. Otherwise, you will have to visit the branch.
You must first update your new name with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) (for Aadhaar) or the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), or the UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL) website (for PAN). Only then can HDFC Bank process your name change request.
No, there are no charges for change name in bank records.
