Mandatory

  • PAN / PAN Acknowledgement or Form 60 (in absence of PAN)
  • Latest Passport size photograph
  • Self-attested copy of Official Valid Document (OVD). If account is being opened by a NEW TO BANK (NTB) customer, the documents need to be additionally certified by any one of the following:
  • Any authorised official of overseas branches of Scheduled Commercial Banks registered in India [CLICK HERE for country wise list of Indian bank Branches]
  • Any branch of overseas bank with which HDFC Bank has relationship [CLICK HERE for Details].
  • Notary Public abroad.
  • Court Magistrate abroad.
  • Judge abroad.
  • Indian Embassy/Consulate General in the country where the NRI/PIO resides.

OFFICIALLY VALID DOCUMENTS (OVD)

  • Valid Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Aadhar Card (Indian Address Proof)
  • Voter’s ID card issued by the Election Commission of India (Indian Address Proof)
  • Job Card issued by NREGA duly signed by an officer of the State Government (Indian Address Proof)
  • Letter issued by the National Population registered containing details of Name & Address.
  • Documents issued by the Government departments of foreign jurisdictions (like OCI/PIO Card, Work/Resident Permit, Social Security Card, Green Card etc.) (Accepted only in case of foreign citizen holding PIO/OCI card)
  • Letter issued by the Foreign Embassy or Mission in India (Accepted only in case of foreign citizen holding PIO/OCI card)

DEEMED TO BE OVD

  • Utility bill (Electricity / Telephone / Post-Paid Mobile Phone / Piped Gas / Water Bill)- (not more than 2 months old)
  • Property or Municipal Tax Receipt
  • Pension or Family Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) issued to retired employees by Government Departments or Public Sector Undertakings, if they contain the address
  • Letter of allotment of accommodation / Leave and License agreements allotting official accommodation from employer issued by State or Central Govt. departments, statutory or regulatory bodies, public sector undertakings, scheduled commercial banks, financial institutions and listed companies.

  • HDFC Bank's acceptable KYC documents list for NRI accounts includes essential requirements such as PAN or Form 60, a self-attested copy of an Official Valid Document (OVD), a recent passport-size photograph, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

To open an NRI Account with HDFC Bank, you'll need to provide specific  documents. This generally includes proof of identity, proof of NRI status, address verification, etc. Ensure that all documents are current and that the address on them matches the one provided in your application.

You can submit any of the following OVDs:  

  • A valid Passport, Driving License, Aadhaar Card (Indian address proof), 
  • Voter’s ID card issued by the Election Commission of India (Indian address proof), 
  • Job Card issued by NREGA
  • Letter issued by the National Population register. 

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can submit their KYC online at HDFC Bank by emailing a scanned self-certified copy of the extended KYC Annexure/Curing Declaration to rekychdfcbank@hdfc.bank.in from their registered email ID. This is one of the easy ways to submit the FATCA/CRS Annexure/Curing Declaration.
