Registration Process in BHIM app
For HDFC Bank Customers:
Select a language.
Welcome to the journey: Accept the security policy and terms and conditions.
To bind a device, choose SIM.
The auto device binding process starts. The device sends an SMS for verification; standard SMS fees apply.
Choose between a credit card or bank account for onboarding after your device has been successfully verified. Choose a bank account.
Select HDFC Bank NRE or NRO account number to be linked to UPI ID.
Generate a four-digit UPI PIN with your debit card information. The UPI registration process has finished.
Get started with seamless UPI transactions right from the BHIM App home screen.
You can easily use and complete UPI transactions if you have an international mobile number. Currently, less than 12 countries can use this feature:
Pay Money using the BHIM app
Click "Send to Mobile/UPI" under the "Pay Now" option.
Enter the payee's UPI ID manually or choose from a list of phone contacts.
You have the option to pay with- The beneficiary's UPI ID, the account number, and IFSC
Add the specified amount.
Choose "Debit account" for your HDFC Bank NRE/NRO account.
Put "Remarks" in here.
Pay using a four-digit UPI PIN.
Request Money using the BHIM app
Tap the "Request Money" button.
Enter the payer's UPI ID manually or choose from a list of phone contacts.
Put the money and Notes in here.
Set the Duration of Expiration and Start the Request
Yes, NRIs can use their international mobile numbers for BHIM UPI app registration. This service is available for INR transactions in India for NRIs from approved geographies, including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, UK, and USA. The NRE or NRO accounts should be KYC compliant and adhere to RBI guidelines.
In India, you may conduct P2M (person-to-merchant) and PPI P2P (person-to-person) transactions. In approved countries, NRE consumers may now do P2M transactions on foreign merchants by using UPI Global scan and payment. (For instance, Nepal, Singapore, UAE, etc.)

Yes, NRIs can register for the BHIM UPI app. The app has been updated to accommodate NRIs, allowing them to link their Non-Resident External (NRE) and Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) accounts to the UPI platform, enabling seamless transactions within India.
No, there aren't any fees associated with domestic P2M and P2P transactions carried out in India.
The transaction limit for UPI P2P and P2M transactions made from your HDFC Bank NRE and NRO account using an international mobile number is ₹1 lakh, or 20 transactions (calculated every 24 hours).
UPI is now available to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) on foreign cell phones. For this reason, they may utilize the international number associated with their HDFC Bank accounts, both Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) and Non-Resident External (NRE).
Customers using live applications with this functionality must register in a few easy steps using their international cellphone number.
After linking their HDFC Bank NRE or NRO account to the app, customers may easily conduct UPI transactions.
