The NRE Seafarer Account from HDFC Bank is an all-inclusive banking solution for Marine/Crew members working for Foreign Shipping Companies. It features a specially designed Seafarer International Platinum Debit Card with enhanced security measures and higher transaction limits. Plus, it’s a zero-balance account, which makes it flexible and convenient.

Documents Required for NRE Seafarer Account

NRE Seafarer Account

  • Submit a copy of the valid contract.
  • Provide a copy of the previous contract.
  • Required for updating the mailing address.
Card Reward and Redemption

Additional Documents Mandatory

  • PAN/PAN Acknowledgement or Form 60 (if PAN is unavailable).

  • Recent passport-size photograph.

  • Self-attested copy of Official Valid Document (OVD). For NEW TO BANK customers, the document must additionally be certified by one of the following:

    • Notary Public, Court Magistrate, or Judge abroad.

    • Indian Embassy/Consulate General in the country where the NRI/PIO resides.

  • Indian Passport Holder: Provide a photocopy of your valid Indian Passport.

  • Foreign Passport Holder: Submit a photocopy of your valid Foreign Passport.

Proof of NRI/PIO Status

For Identity Verification:

  • Indian Passport Holder: Provide a photocopy of your valid VISA (Employment/ Residence/Student/Dependent, etc.) or a Work/Residence Permit copy.

  • Foreign Passport Holder: Submit a photocopy of your OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card/PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card/PIO declaration, where applicable.

Proof of Address

  • Choose either Indian or Overseas.

  • Proof of Address (document must be self-attested and certified by the authorities mentioned above).

  • Provide either an Indian or overseas proof of address.

Officially Valid Documents (OVD)

  • Valid Passport

  • Driving License

  • Aadhar Card (Indian address proof)

  • Voter ID card issued by the Election Commission of India (Indian address proof).

  • Job Card issued by NREGA signed by a State Government officer (Indian address proof).

  • Letter issued by the National Population Register containing name and address details.

  • Documents issued by foreign government departments (e.g., OCI/PIO Card, Work/Residence Permit, Social Security Card, Green Card, etc.) (applicable only for foreign citizens holding PIO/OCI card).

  • Letter issued by a Foreign Embassy or Mission in India (applicable only for foreign citizens holding PIO/OCI card).

  • Utility bill (Electricity, Telephone, Post-Paid Mobile Phone, Piped Gas, Water Bill) – (not older than 2 months).

  • Property or Municipal Tax receipt

  • Pension or Family Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) issued by Government Departments or Public Sector Undertakings, if they include the address.

  • Letters of accommodation allotment or Leave and License agreements for official accommodation issued by State or Central Government departments, statutory or regulatory bodies, public sector undertakings, scheduled commercial banks, financial institutions, and listed companies.
