Frequently Asked Questions

You first need to obtain a cheque or demand draft in the desired currency (e.g. Canadian dollars) that you want to send to India. Write a letter of instruction that includes the account number of the recipient in India where you want the funds to be credited. Mail the cheque/demand draft along with the letter of instruction to your HDFC Bank branch in India. The funds will then be credited to the recipient's HDFC Bank Account in India.

To send a demand draft to India from Canada, follow these steps:

  1. Obtain a foreign currency Demand Draft from your bank in Canada in the desired currency (e.g., USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, etc.).
  2. Ensure the Demand Draft is drawn in the name of the beneficiary in India.
  3. Attach a letter of instruction to the Demand Draft, mentioning the account number of the beneficiary in India where the funds should be credited.
  4. Mail the Demand Draft: Mail the demand draft and the letter of instruction to your HDFC Bank branch in India.
  5. Funds Credit: The funds will be credited to the beneficiary's HDFC Bank Account in India

HDFC Bank offers a Telegraphic Transfer or Wire Transfer Service to transfer funds from Canada to India. You can remit funds from any bank in the world to India using this service.
